High performance, state-of-the-art technology is now used
for fuel-injection systems in diesel-powered vehicles. This means that the
requirements relating to diesel filtration have increased substantially. Both
ultra-fine particles and large quantities of water must be efficiently
separated from the fuel in order to prevent wear of the engine. PreLine®,
the pre-filter system, which uses a new filter medium (MULTIGRADE F_PFO) from
the MULTIGRADE series has been developed by MANN+HUMMEL to cater for this
particular market niche.
In contrast with other commercially available cellulose media,
the MULTIGRADE F_PFO filter medium functions reliably even with large
quantities of water. Compared to the other standard filter media, the water
separation efficiency of >93% has been attained using this new filter
medium. The ultra-fine synthetic fibers ensure stable and high water separation
throughout the service life of the MULTIGRADE filter media.
